Lumineers are a brand of porcelain veneers that can only be manufactured in the DenMat Laboratory. They are in a new class known as “ultra thin” porcelain veneers and touted as a quick, painless alternative to traditional porcelain veneers because they can be bonded to un-prepped or lightly prepped teeth as a solution for stained, chipped, discolored and misaligned teeth. While you can literally transform your smile in a matter of days, there are several things to consider before choosing Lumineers.
Traditional veneers are 0.5 mm thick. Lumineers and other ultra-thin brands are 0.3 mm thick.
Lumineers vs. Other Ultra-Thin Brands

While Lumineers can be a great solution for some people, the main drawback is that they can only be manufactured in the DenMat Laboratory – reducing the options cosmetic dentists have in creating a beautiful, customized look. Furthermore, the lab has often been criticized for lacking “artistry” by producing veneers that can appear bulky and opaque looking.
