I wasn’t blessed with a beautiful, perfect smile. To be quite honest, I hate the spacing between my teeth because it makes them look crooked. I’d love to get them fixed, but an expensive cosmetic procedure is not in my budget. Is it too much to ask to just want straight-looking teeth? I need a quick, inexpensive fix. I know it sounds crazy, but I’d even be willing to wear something similar to dentures if it would work. Is there something like that available? — Sidney
Sidney,
It sounds like you might be a great candidate for a “Snap-On-Smile.” It’s inexpensive (about $1000-$1500, which is about the cost of a single veneer) and the good news is that almost any dentist should be able to do it for you. It’s a simple procedure in which they take an impression, choose a shade and smile design, and then send it to a lab to be made. The best part is that it snaps in and out whenever you want. Talk about an instant smile lift!
As far as other options go, depending on how many spaces you have, it’s possible that direct bonding could work. It is also fairly inexpensive and your dentist adds tooth-colored composite to the sides of the teeth. Bonding will last longer than a snap-on-smile (which typically has a 3-5 year lifespan if you wear it all the time). But, if you go that route, just be sure and find a cosmetic dentist because bonding requires artistry and skill.
